The writing of Thin Wednesday was funded by an Ontario Arts Council Works-in-Progress grant, and the manuscript was short-listed for the KM Hunter Award.
It's a near future post apocalyptic dystopia (and sometimes utopia) about a squatter community in the Roger's Centre, water purification (linked to the work of Dr. Masaru Emoto and others), medicinal plants, shamanic journeying, DIY power systems, and a Carnival transplanted to Toronto from New Orleans and other points south.
It follows the dangerous lives of four young women who at first only cross paths but by the end connect in helping one of their members escape from a virtual reality porn ring, assisted by an enigmatic African-American man who runs a water supply service.
Like Green Music, it also includes a shape shifting turtle!
The writing is by turns dark, erotic, poetic and humorous.
